Welcome
Welcome to Amateur Television Quest (ATVQ).
Amateur Television Quest (ATVQ) is the home base for amateur television (ATV) — the hobby of sending live video over ham radio. Whether you are curious about DATV, hunting for local activity, or ready to transmit, ATVQ gathers practical guides, gear notes, and community links in one place.
The original ATVQ was Amateur Television Quarterly, a printed magazine that served the ATV community for many years. After acquiring the magazine, it became clear that the costs of print production and unreliable postal delivery made a printed quarterly unsustainable. The decision was made to move everything online so information could be published in real time.
The mission remains the same: help radio amateurs transmit and receive video on the Amateur Radio bands. Much of the content on this site will always be free. The goal is to organize the best available information so it is easy to find.
Existing unused magazine subscriptions can be converted to memberships, applied toward ATVQ products (past issues, ATV Secrets, Best of Beasley, etc.), or refunded as funds allow. The intent is that no one loses money.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.
